Swing Arm Bonder – Composite Truck Hood Assembly


This truck hood bonder was designed and built to assemble three class “A” panels and three supporting reinforcements using “on stops” bonding practices. This bonder included the following features:
  • CNC cut aluminum nesting for both “A & B” surfaces.
  • Nesting plumbed for customer supplied steam heat. Electric cartridge heat and hot air blowers were used in hard to reach areas and on triple bond joints for additional heat control.
  • Allen Bradley PLC controls and panel view for seamless operator interface.
  • Part present sensors with pre-gel timers for process control.
  • Perimeter hard guarding and safety mats for operator safety.
  • Hood assembly unload assist details

“A” Side Pivot Bonder – Composite Truck Cab Assembly


This truck cab bonder was designed and built to assemble two class “A” panels, multiple supporting reinforcements and backing plates using a combination of “net and on stops” bonding practices. This bonder included the following features:
  • CNC cut aluminum nesting for both “A & B” surfaces.
  • Nesting plumbed for customer supplied steam heat. Electric cartridge heat and hot air blowers were used in hard to reach areas and on triple bond joints for additional heat control.
  • Allen Bradley PLC controls and panel view for seamless operator interface.
  • Part present sensors with pre-gel timers for process control.
  • Perimeter hard guarding and safety mats for operator safety.
  • Cab built in truck position for easy load and unload conditions.

Vertical Press and Shuttle Bonder – Composite Truck Roof Assembly


This truck Roof bonder was designed and built to assemble four class “A” panels and sixteen supporting reinforcements using “net” bonding practices. This bonder included the following features:
  • CNC cut aluminum nesting for both “A & B” surfaces.
  • Retractable datum features for all components
  • “A” side nesting plumbed for customer supplied steam heat. Reinforcement side nesting plumbed with hot water heat as produced by the heater system included with the cell.
  • Allen Bradley PLC controls and panel view for seamless operator interface.
  • Part present sensors with pre-gel timers for process control.
  • Vertical press and shuttle motions were hydraulically driven for optimum control.
  • Central vacuum pump zoned for independent part retention.
  • Perimeter hard guarding and dual two-hand cycle start stations for operator safety.
  • Roof built in truck position for easy load and unload conditions.

Altron Standard Automatic Drill Fixture – Composite Part


Altron standardizes our frame design, controls package and pneumatic package to reduce cost and to provide the customer with standard build components. This automatic drill fixture was designed and built to drill thirty (30) various sized holes in this composite part. This drill fixture included the following features:
  • CNC cut aluminum nesting and datum features.
  • Pneumatic clamping for repeatability.
  • ARO pneumatic drill motors with automatic line oilers.
  • Zagar multi spindle drill heads.
  • Broken drill bit sensors.
  • Ergonomic load / unload conditions
  • Down draft dust collection with automatic shut off manifold.
  • Allen Bradley PLC controls and panel view for seamless operator interface.
  • Perimeter hard guarding and light curtain for operator safety.

Manual Hardware Installation Fixture – Composite and Steel Parts


This manual hardware installation fixture was designed and built to locate six (6) steel reinforcement brackets to this composite part. This hardware fixture included the following features:
  • CNC cut aluminum nesting and datum features.
  • Stationary and retractable nut hole-locating features.
  • Manual clamping to hold the composite part to the steel brackets while the operator manually rivets them into a permanent position.
  • CMM tooling balls to verify datum features, part nesting and pin locators to math data position.
  • Ergonomic load / unload conditions

Manual Cut Off Fixture – Composite Part


This is a low volume cutoff fixture for a RH and LH composite part. Manual operation to clamp, turn on pneumatic cutoff motor and slide blade over component part. This cutoff fixture included the following features:
  • CNC cut aluminum nesting and datum features.
  • Manual clamping for repeatability.
  • ARO pneumatic milling motor with 10” cutoff blade.
  • Ergonomic load / unload conditions
  • Point of generation dust collection to main manifold.
  • Air logic for two hand tie down and process control.
  • Cut off blade guarding and slug trays.

Automatic Drill Fixture – Composite Part


Part specific frame design, controls package and pneumatic packages. Allows us to incorporate drilling features to any size or shape of composite part. This automatic drill fixture was designed and built to drill one hundred eight (108) various sized holes in this complex composite part. This drill fixture included the following features:
  • CNC cut aluminum nesting and datum features.
  • Pneumatic clamping for repeatability.
  • ARO pneumatic drill and milling motors with automatic line oilers.
  • ARO multi spindle drill heads.
  • Ergonomic load / unload conditions
